On the event of Annihilator’s participation in MMD festival in Greece, Elena Mihailidou and Vasilis Mazaris had the chance to interview Jeff Waters. Jeff talks to Metalzone.gr about his latest release METAL and how the press and fans have welcomed this release and how he feels about the diverse guests he’s had in this album.

Jeff discusses his point of view on the line up changes of Annihilator, the musical directions he follows, how he has stuck to them through the years even though he could have done a more commercial turn in his musical style and be richer today. He also explains how the music business today doesn’t have what they call artist development which has helped huge bands become huge in the past. He also discusses the current styles of metal and the bands that are in fashion and how they influence the scene today and that he hopes the new Metallica record will be good- like a return to their roots (!).

He explains why he wouldn’t make a sequel to Never, Neverland as he feels he can’t grasp the feelings he had when he wrote the original. Jeff tells us he’s got enough stuff to make quite a few records and can’t wait to get back in the studio to make a good Annihilator record.
