A brief biography of the band.

Avenger are a band formed in 1982 we released two albums an Ep and a 7”single , also a three track video. Between 1982 and 1985 we played shows throughout Europe UK and The United States of America. The band split up in August 1985 and reformed in 2004 since reforming we have played many shows throughout the world and have been lucky enough to share stages with some of the greatest metal bands. December 1st 2014 we release our third studio album The Slaughter Never Stops!!.

What led the band to disband in the middle of the 80s’ and how you came with the decision to reactivate Avenger
\r\n\r\n
We split up in 1985 due to poor record label support , also because of the knowledge that people all over the world wanted to see us but because of the lack of support we couldn’t get out to our fans , through this we become frustrated and ended up breaking up.

NWOBHM is considered, by many fans, to be most unique metal movement in the history. Which are your memories from these days ?
\r\n\r\n
Our main memories were of the developing scene and a new faster and more aggressive breed of metal , very exciting times and the fact the music has endured shows that it was very good.
\r\n\r\n
What led to the decline of the NWOBHM movement in the second half of the 80’s?
\r\n\r\n
I think the decline came a little bit later than the mid 80’s more like 87/88/89 I was by then playing in Blitzkrieg , Grunge and other popular trends started to make it harder to get gigs so I think the NWOBHM scene got temporally side lined because of fashion (a dirty word)

Do you think that will ever be another NWOBHM ?
\r\n\r\n
I think its happening right now with European bands like Enforcer and in the purest sense with UK bands like Toledo Steel and Amulet.

Your old releases are considered to be a collector’s item today. Are there any plans to re-release that material ?
\r\n\r\n
Yes we hope to re-release it all later in 2015 maybe on vinyl as it’s the only way it has not already been re released up to now
\r\n\r\n
Which are your future plans ?
\r\n\r\n
Well Our New album is released 1st December 2014 so we will obviously be supporting that and touring it....after that we have plans to re –release our early albums and also start compiling live material for a live album/dvd. Those our immediate objectives.

How you feel with your participation in rock you to hell festival ?
\r\n\r\n
We are very proud to be part of RYTH fest and to be onstage with such legendary and awesome bands , quite a few of who are our friends so I see a big party back stage !!

Any other scheduled appearances ?
\r\n\r\n
Yes we play at Home with The Tygers of Pan Tang and Fist 20/11/14 That is our last show of 2014 I think we are already setting up dates in 2015 this includes Heros of the NWOBHM festival and SOS festival with Blaze Bailey.

What the fans should expect from your appearance ? Any message to your fans in Greece ?
\r\n\r\n
We are very excited about Rock You Too Hell festival , its our first show in Greece ever and we have a great set of all our popular songs plus a few surprises!!! All the people in Greece who have supported us and stuck by the band over the years CHEERS you fucking rule!!!!
