DREADLINK interview 2012

\r\n Dreadlink interview by efkarpos - metalzone.gr\r\n

\r\n

\r\nMetalzone / First of all I would like to ask you to introduce the band and inform us about the history of the band in a few words.\r\n

\r\n

\r\nDREADLINK / Well, we’ve all played in several bands before – some of us even together. After all, we thought it was about time to grow up and do something that leaves a footprint. So we formed DREADLINK in 2009. DREADLINK was meant to be something special, more than “just another band”. We wanted to do something new, true and more professional without really leaving the underground metal scene…\r\n

\r\n

\r\nMetalzone / How do you describe the type of Music you play and what are your main influences?\r\n

\r\n

\r\nDREADLINK / Our music is very heavy and carries a lot of groove in it combined with some melodic parts here and there. We don’t have any special influences which makes the album interesting because we only cared for how good the song is, not if it really sounds like something or someone. \r\n

\r\n

\r\nMetalzone / Tell us some words about your new album and some details about the production and the cover artist?\r\n

\r\n

\r\nDREADLINK / First of all “Zero One” is very raw. So if you like clinical multi-million dollar productions better don’t listen to it and shut the fuck up. “Zero One” just sounds fuckin’ brutal and was described as “music like heavy industry” but still has lot of melody and melancholy in it. In addition, we’ve made it a concept album telling very cynical stories about the errors of humanity. Raffa, our singer, created the whole band artwork. Our colors have always been black and yellow and so it was logical to keep this design for the album as well. We all think he did a fantastic job! It is mainly inspired by the lyrics of “Zero One” (e.g. “Soulburn Industries” or “Haterpillar”).\r\n

\r\n

\r\nMetalzone / What are the main lyric themes? What are the messages that you pass through your music?\r\n

\r\n

\r\nDREADLINK / We are inspired by everyday life. Work, news, stuff we witness when we walk along the streets… life’s full of shit showing how stupid and unimportant humans are. The problem is that most people think that our species is “the summit of creation”. The lyrics on “Zero One” revolve around that topic.\r\n

\r\n

\r\nMetalzone / Please tell us your opinion about the music industry and the DIY scene. Do you believe a band can grow up big without being under a label?\r\n

\r\n

\r\nDREADLINK / We chose the way signing with a record label because they have the network for putting our album on the market in a lot of ways and make good promotion for us. These things we could have never done on our own. The record label makes a lot of things easier for us. So yes, we believe that it is very hard to get a lot of recognition without a label. Our opinion about the music industry is pretty much the same as our opinion about any other industry: It’s mostly driven by greed, it’s unfair and you have to fight for every little thing… therefore we must say that we quite happy to have an experienced indie-label like massacre at our side.\r\n

\r\n

\r\nMetalzone / Can you please tell us about the plans that the band has at the moment?\r\n

\r\n

\r\nDREADLINK / We are looking for all kind of possibilities to play some live shows, festivals and maybe a small tour next year. We are planning to start working on our second album at the end of 2013.\r\n

\r\n

\r\nMetalzone / Is there a chance to see a -Dreadlink- concert here in Greece in the future?\r\n

\r\n

\r\nDREADLINK / Sure we would like to play some shows in Greece too but at the moment for us as a newcomer band it’s hard enough to get at worthwhile gigs in Germany…\r\n

\r\n

\r\nMetalzone / Have you ever visit Greece? What do you know about our Metal Scene?\r\n

\r\n

\r\nDREADLINK / Some of us have been on vacation in Greece so we do not know the Greek metal scene in detail – well, we know one metal band from Greece and that is “psycho choke”. They fuckin’ rock!!
\r\nFirst, we were surprised to get that much feedback from Greece. But after all it seems logical that a lot of people in Greece try to find ways to express their frustration and anger! And music, especially metal, has always been one of these ways. Right now the Greek people suffer the most from the economic insanity out there. If our music can help them to get along, it makes us happy.\r\n

\r\n

\r\nMetalzone / We now that Germany except Metal bands is expert in BEER! Please tell us which is your favorite beer and why?\r\n

\r\n

\r\nDREADLINK / Yeah that’s true! We have a lot of good beer types here in Germany but you will laugh when I say our favorite one is the Danish Carlsberg!\r\n

\r\n

\r\nMetalzone / Finally, we would like to thank you and let you end this interview with your own personal message to all the Greek Metalheads out there. Thank you for your precious time and I hope we’ll meet you someday!\r\n

\r\n

\r\nDREADLINK / Keep your heads up and enjoy life as much as you can! Cheers!\r\n
