FIREFORCE

Give us a brief account of the band’s history.
\r\nFireforce emerged in September 2008 from the ashes of the Belgian Metal band Double Diamond. Flype and I (Erwin Suetens) decided to start this new band after realising that the other Diamond guys were not motivated enough to go on. So, we both left DD and looked for new members. Soon after the formation of the band, we were able to play our first gigs in February 2009. It was great to share stages with such bands as Jaguar, Cloven Hoof, Avenger and Vicious Rumors. During this period, we also recorded our EP “Moonlight Lady” here in Belgium, which featured four songs. It was produced in Germany by RD Liapakis and was primarily used for promotional purposes from August 2009. This led to the attention of 7hard records and brought us our first record deal. As a result, we started to record “March On” in august 2010. The album was released in March 2011. In June 2014, the “Deathbringer” album was released!

How does it feel to participate in a festival, along with such great acts, as Grim Reaper, Praying Mantis, Q5 and Avenger?
\r\nAs we mentioned before, we have already played with Avenger and also with Grim Reaper. I’m a big NWOBHM fan, so I love all the bands that take part at Rock You To Hell! Haha!
\r\n
\r\nAre there any plans for further live dates?

\r\n\r\n

Yes, of course, we will play a lot of club gigs and we’re planning a tour for the next year, as we speak.
\r\n
\r\nHow would you describe the situation regarding the heavy metal movement in Belgium?

\r\n\r\n

Poor, everything depends on the people you know. You’re only a great band when you’re known in other countries. Even the famous Graspop festival has a special “Belgian day”, every Thursday, where you can play, only if you have participated in “group battles”! On the other days you don’t have a chance as a Belgian band. In other festivals, the promoters occupy themselves only with their “friends”. A good quality band with no “organizer friends” has no chance.
\r\n
\r\nYou released your second full-length album this year. Are there any ideas for new material?

\r\n\r\n

Of course! I have lots of ideas in my head and I will prepare them soon!
\r\n

\r\n\r\n

Which bands and artists are your main musical influences?
\r\nThe NWOBHM, the bay area thrash, the German power metal. And to mention merely a few bands: Metal Church, Testament, Mystic Prophecy, Saxon. There are so many good bands!
\r\n

\r\n\r\n

Ηave changes in your line-up affected your musical style?
\r\nNot really. I (Erwin) write all the music and lyrics! Until now, me and Flype are the core of the band and that has never changed. But of course, there’s always room for improvement so any great ideas that come from one of our “youngsters” are welcome!

\r\n\r\n

What should the Greek crowd expect from FireForce on the 8th of November?
\r\nA great and powerful gig that will blow their brains out, haha! No, be sure that we will leave an impression that you will never forget! It’s a shame we can’t bring our full show!
\r\n

\r\n\r\n

What do you expect from the Greek crown on the 8th of November?

\r\n\r\n

Total devotion and going craaaaazy as hell – Hail!
