Septic Flesh @ Gagarin 205

Septic Flesh - Persepolis

\r\nOn January 10th it was finally time for the Greek audience to enjoy on Stage the reborn Septic Flesh after 6 years. The whole show was very tempting since 3 other bands would support Septic Flesh in this concert. So we were outside the club at 7:30 and at about 8:10 Nyne started to play…\r\n

\r\n

\r\nEven though they haven’t released any albums yet, Nyne seemed very well-prepared for this show and effectively introduced us to tonight’s air with their well-played and almost frozen symphonic – black metal, something they seemed to absolutely own. Their on stage performance was exactly the one needed without unneeded comments and they were completely concentrated on their music.\r\n

\r\n

\r\nAfter Nyne, came the utter cult deathsters, Nordor which seemed to have fun during the concert since they were totally in touch with their audience. They played songs from their demos and their newly released album, introducing us to their early 90’s sound. Steady and very impressive, they gave their place to Slavebreed…\r\n

\r\n

\r\nI have to admit that I am not a big fan of Slavebreed’s music, but I also need to state that what they played for us sounded totally flawless to me and judging from the audience’s reaction, it must have been very well-liked to the supporters of this kind of sound since there was quite some movement at the first rows of Gagarin 205…\r\n

\r\n

\r\nAt about 22:30, Septic Flesh came on stage surrounded by the audience’s strong applause; an Athens audience that hadn’t enjoyed them perform live for 6 years and finally was given that chance. The band opened with “Unbeliever” and until the middle of the song they had found their sound. The set list included tracks from their three latest albums, along with the necessary pre-recorded parts (orchestral parts and clean vocals). Thankfully the sound was good (personally I was watching from the gallery right behind the sound console, so I was enjoying some great sound there).
\r\nThe audience praised the band at certain parts, especially when the moment came to perform some songs from their latest album “Communion”, that’s when Gagarin practically caught on fire. At a certain point Chris Antoniou’s guitar had a small glitch and nobody could hear it but after Foti’s waves to the sound engineer, the matter was resolved. Seth’s on stage performance was truly fascinating and quite theatrical, something that totally suited the band’s atmosphere.
\r\nTheir set lasted for approximately one hour and 20 minutes and at the moment they have set sails for the other side of the Atlantic where they will be touring with Cradle Of Filth and Satyricon.\r\n
