In a (sadly) non-crowded setting, commenced the dark Norse march on the Gagarin stage.

\r\nWhat can you say about Wacken Open Air? It’s the world’s biggest Metal festival, with the best organization and attracting over 75.000 metalheads yearly. So, like the good metal maniac that I am, I decided to go to the 20th anniversary of the biggest Metal celebration.\r\n

\r\nDay 1 – 30/7\r\n

August 14, 2009

\r\nIt was 9 am when I got off the Attica train station and gone rushing to 205 number of Liosion avenue in order to report for Over The Rainbow’s concert in Athens. At first, without wearing my glasses, I didn’t see the hundreds of people who were waiting patiently outside the venue in order to enter a concert that two hours later would be characterised as "an unforgettable experience" by many of the people who attended the concert at Monday night. But what was the surprise to all of these facts?\r\n

\r\nAs soon as I got to Sin City in the center of Athens to watch Evergrey I heard the news, Greek support band’s appearances had been cancelled. I heard no official explanation for that but judging by the backline I saw on stage for Evergrey’s show I am pretty sure it had to do with that. You see the stage is small and the backline of the Swedes massive! At least for a stage this small.\r\n

I am on the train heading to Larissa, for Evergrey’s concert. After Heraklion (Rotting Christ) and Xanthi (Scorpions), this is the third time that I will attend a rock/metal live to a regional city of a world class band.

Summer is the appropriate time for trips here and there inside and outside of Greece. Especially if you combine these small trips with music. I can’t think of anything better than a trip to Crete and Chania in specific to watch Chania Rock Festival, which was excellent this year in every way.

\r\nIt’s evening and I am inside Harley Bar, which is full of friends and\r\nacquaintances while some\r\nof them came laterwere slower. All three bands played both their songs\r\nand some covers. The sound was good and the youngsters did their best\r\non stage to make the audience have a nice time, however they didn’t\r\nparticipate that much. Some of them moved their heads back and forth,\r\nbut most\r\nof them didn’t leave their positions, so the space in front of the\r\nstage remained empty.

Ross Friedman (born 3 Jan 1954, New York City), also known as Ross Funicello or Ross The Boss, is a guitarist best known as a founding member of Manowar (from 1980 since 1988). RTB band as an idea, begun at the "Keep It True" festival where he teamed up with "Men Of War" (a tribute band for Manowar) from Germany, for a jam back in 2006. Last year’s "New Metal Leader" was a pleasant surprise for both Manowar fans and Heavy metal ones, in general.

\r\nIt was a tough day for a live since the train didn’t stop at Kallithea due to construction at the station, so it was a little hard to get to Onoma Tou Rodou. When we got there, we drank a beer at the bar and waited for the first band, Blindfold, which was fashionably late.\r\n
