Astral Doors - New Revelation

Astral Doors - New Revelation

\r\nThis is the fourth full-length studio album from Swedish heavy metal band Astral Doors, titled “New Revelation”. Formed in early 2002 from Swedish guitarist Joachim Nordlund and drummer Johan Lindstedt, Astral Doors oscillate between hard rock and heavy metal with their roots strongly thrusted deep into the metal’s lavishing ground of the eighties in vein of old Dio and Deep Purple. Hard and heavy most of the songs are carved by melodic metal sound, basically mid tempo yet with a few up tempo moments as well, while there is also a beautiful ballad in the disc, titled “Waiting For The Master”. They even touch the power metal era with a slight progressive mode with some symphonic influences. The twin guitars are heavy and varied while the presence of the Hammond grants the melodic parts with a very profound union although at times you get this unhelpful digestive feeling. The production is crystal clear, highly polished, adding a bit more of a commercial rock touch to the music. The singer Patrick Johansson strolls between melody and a small bit of aggressiveness yet always with a melodic reserve. Overall, “New Revelation” will surely appeal greatly to those who are fans of powerful, classic hard rock/heavy metal.\r\n
