The Burning - Storm The Walls

The Burning - Storm The Walls

\r\nI have a very special\r\nrelationship with Denmark.\r\nI feel that whatever comes out of this country is at least worth while. Let me\r\nname a few bands… Illdisposed, Saturnus, Hatesphere, Mercenary, Raunchy,\r\nBlazing Eternity, Volbeat and the list goes on and on. Here comes a band out of\r\nthe blue called The Burning to shake us down with their performance. After a\r\nfew demos, which got great reviews from Scandinavian press, they release their\r\ndebut album called "Storm The Walls" which will shake the Thrash /\r\nDeath Metal scene. \r\n

\r\n

\r\n"Storm The Walls"\r\nis a 35minute diamond which includes 12 tracks of pure Groovy Death Metal like the\r\none we listened in Illdisposed, and mostly after 1-800 Vindication with certain Thrash influences in the paths of The Haunted. The rhythm parts are the gift of the\r\nband and of course the Mid tempo passings which gives an ideal result. The\r\nBurning are very much influenced by Illdisposed\r\nwhich is obvious in the track "Dotted Line" as the riffs are almost\r\nlike listening to Illdisposed themselves. Personally I am not bothered by that because I was always searching for a band which would be into the Groovy style and communicates it to their audience. The Burning are grooving heavily and we have no reason at\r\nall not to love them for that. Vocals from Johnny Haven are ideal and in some parts remind me of Metalcore vocalists. Production of the\r\nalbum has been handled by Jacob Hansen (Aborted, Mercenary, Nightrage,\r\nHatesphere, Volbeat) and\r\nit’s really well established down to the last detail. \r\n

\r\n

\r\nThe Burning present a mixture of modern Groovy Death Metal with Thrash elements which might be simple in their form but can\r\nwin the listener over with just the first listen. I feel that the most\r\nappropriate way to conclude this review is that in the press release of the\r\nband : No Swedish twin\r\nguitars, no clean sung choruses, no trendy haircuts...All Fire! \r\n
