Obscene Gesture - Living in Profanity

\r\nObscene Gesture is a new L.A based band led by the former Agent Steel drummer Chuck Profus and Guy Green of L.A. GutterThug on vocals. The lineup is rounded out by another former member of Agent Steel, George Robb on bass and Vince Dennis (Body Count/Steel Prophet) on guitar while a third ex-member of Agent Steel joined the band on December 2006, Juan Garcia on guitar. Their music far away from anything like power metal or rap metal, it’s nothing more than a mix of old school thrash, hardcore and punk, with influences from bands like D.R.I., Slayer, Nuclear Assault, Cryptic Slaughter, Suicidal Tendencies, Crumbsuckers, S.O.D. Late last year, Obscene Gesture went into the studio with producer Rob Hill (Cypress Hill, Powerman 5000, Agent Steel) to record their debut album "Living in Profanity" which contains 21 tracks yet short in duration hardly reaching two minutes and with a great amount of movie sample intros. Points in favor of the disc is the overwhelming, demolishing sound with stormy guitars and furious, angry vocals with a song structure that is heavy and fast and an intensive riffing sometimes simple and sometimes a bit more completive while the guitar soloing is most of the time chaotic, fast and none-melodic. The points against is the fact that the songs sometimes are very similar seeming foreseeable which really makes you lose interest after a while and tires you up very quickly after listening to this album. Overall if you like fast thrash metal and old school thrashcore this album is a great concoction of moshing madness, a violent release of energy and a great opportunity for some headbanging get off.\r\n
