Revelations Of Rain - Marble Shades Of Despair

Revelations Of Rain - Marble Shades Of Despair

This Is the first release from Russia’s Revelations Of Rain entitled “Marble Shades Of Despair” and it’s about a project of    Remizov Ilya (bass guitar, guitar, vocals and drum programming) and Muromskaya Olesya  (guitars, vocals and keyboards) ex members of Ocean of Sorrow.
\r\nIn “Marble Shades Of Despair”, Revelations Of Rain presenting us a very good sample of doom / death metal the way that bands like My Dying Bride, Anathema and Paradise Lost founded back in the early 90’s with some influences by newer bands of this genre, like Swallow The Sun and Mourning Beloveth.
\r\nThe Album consists of eight compositions in the vein of and music structure of the bands mentioned above with many melodies in the vein of My Dying Bride in the most of the album. Also many guitar melodic line exist with a lots of atmospheric keys in the background. The production is good enough to make the listener to forget that is about a drum machine; also it was wise decision to have the bass guitar “up” in the final mix, this is a fact that makes the album more solid and gives a bit of aggression.
\r\nProbably the only weak point is that the lyrics and the track titles are in the Russian Language so this one can confuse the listener, but on the other hand it gives a more unique feeling to this release.
\r\nGenerally   “Marble Shades Of Despair” is a very interesting effort that I would easily recommended not only to the fans of the doom / death genre but in general. If someone is not convinced by this review just visit the Myspace page of the band and decide by yourself
