Scarpoint - The Silence We Deserve

\r\nHere we have a very hopefull beginning but not something that unique. Swedish Scarpoint are one more band of those who try to combine melodic Death Metal sound with more experimental elements. When I first heard this album I immediatly thought about that great debut album from Engel, also swedish. From those who have heard that particular album we must say that The Silence We Deserve is almost the same with the only difference it doesn’t have that many catchy parts as Absolute Design had, and the tracks aren’t that easy listening. From that point on, as far as sound and the mentality of the album are concerned, everything sounds the same. So in this debut album the group is based on some melodic characteristics of Death Metal, is really kean on Meshuggah sound and has also added many progressive incredients making this album espacially difficult to listen to. Sharp riffs that relegate to Metalcore forms cover the majority of the album, while the tracks have a mid tempo rythm with only a few exceptions. The black spot of the band is that due to the variety of influences they have, they give the impression of not having found their identity sound and they just recycle what we’ve heard from other similar bands. Responsible for this remarcable album production is Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, In Flames). It’s worthy having a look at this new release and personally I expect Scarpoint’s next album given that they try to find their own sound, things will be much better.\r\n
