\r\nAnother female fronted symphonic metal album? You are close but…. You see Lunatica are trying for commercial success and that is more than obvious here.

\r\nWhen I was given this album for a review, I was stunt. The well known from his participation in Victory and Accept, Herman Frank, decided to team up with 3 more well known and talented musicians and create this masterpiece. Let me start with a brief introduction of the makers of the album: the guitarist, Herman Frank, played for Accept from the release of “Restless and Wild” until the release of “Balls to the Wall”, and then passed on to Victory, where he remains until now.

\r\nI am truly starting to believe that Cruz Del Sur records is labeling everybody under the trash genre. What can I say…? It must be a disease. Crescent Shield is an American power metal band. They have nothing to do with thrash or progressive metal as you can read at their MySpace.

\r\nCrown the lost statement is that they play thrash metal. Well that’s not exactly the case here. Somebody will call them progressive thrash. That could be better.  However there is definitely a nevermore meets As I lay Dying feeling in their music. I don’t call this thrash. it’s speed up certainly, and ok they start from the roots from thrash metal but they are of course. Too much happening at the same time dooms this album to failure. You do have to focus hard to keep up with all that is going on. Many riffs around but unfortunately very very predictable.

\r\nThese guys are many years around. They started back in 1990 and 2009’s ‘’Killing Ages’’ is their sixth album. With Guests like Jan Barkved (Elusive) and Tristessa (Astarte) they have big plans with this release. And they should.

\r\nThis is a demo from Patra’s new metal child Guinea Pig. Patra gave me 2/2 great releases in one month! Something good is going on there.

\r\nThis is a band from Austria. I don’t know any other bands from there but here is my beginning. Desert Sin plays power metal. Their sound is crystal clear with a loud production and that is a plus to this cd. They somehow manage to underline their uniqueness in the metal universe by combining elements from both European and American power metal. Let’s say they are balancing between Destiny’s End and the European Teutonic Heavy power metal. It took me about three songs to like the voice of Sandro Holzer but it the end I can say that he’s alright.

In their MySpace page at the influences section you can read ‘’ IRON MAIDEN, IRON MAIDEN, IRON MAIDEN, OZZY, CRIMSON GLORY, METALLICA, IRON MAIDEN, IRON MAIDEN, WARLORD.... ‘’ Adding a little more Maiden and removing Metallica from the list, i think they made their point. It’s clear what you going to hear from Prodigal. And to be honest it’s not bad. Fans of classic sound of heavy metal with an epic touch you’ll enjoy the album.

\r\nThe change of a frontman is rarely a good thing. The only quick example of a change that stood the test of time is Bruce Dickinson over Paul Di Anno. But that‘s another story in different times.  The Dutch Goth-atmospheric-prog-rockers (Lets face it, they’ve distanced themselves from metal) are making their first move since the departure of frontwoman Anneke van Giersbergen in 2007.

Chasing Hazel’s new album is the living proof to the quotation “Never judge a book by its cover”. What do I mean? I will get it straight.
\r\nI was about to listen to the album and by seeing the excellent cover artwork depicting an AWESOME BABE posing in a bikini, lipstick traces, the album titled “It’s all about the Style and the Glamour” and the Band’s logo similar with that of Crashdiet at first I thought it was another decent sleaze – glam release. Well I couldn’t be more wrong…
