Listening session: Soul to take

We were delighted to accept the invitation from SOUL TO TAKE to attend the presentation of their upcoming debut album which will be titled DEAD AND GONE. The meeting was arranged for Saturday, January 7th at Studio Sierra. Soul to take is a Greek-German band, which is not rare nowadays since the internet has reduced the distances to zero, giving the opportunity to people from different countries to work together easily.

From the band present was the singer Kostas Lolis, drummer Kostas Tsifopoulos and via Skype bassist Christin Pschibil, also present were David Prudent, Alexandros Chrisidis who were in charge of the recordings as far as the mix and the mastering of the album is concerned, which partly (vocals, drums) were recorded in Athens in made In Hell Studios, while the guitars and bass in Maddin Studio in Grevenbroich, Germany. The final mastering was made in Sierra Studios Athens.

With the album to almost ready, we had the opportunity to listen 9 from a total of 14 tracks of the album (there are also 4 bonus tracks). Soul To Take do not appear to stick on musical labels identifying their sound as Rock / funk / metal and the result proves them right. Their tracks are truly spontaneous just like a kind of puzzle with musical ideas. Aggressive brutal vocals metallic guitars, atmospheric parts, fast and slow tempo, thrashy rhythm section with Soul to take simply the listener can’t get bored. The material draws inspiration from various genres which makes the songs sound like a jam that everything falls into place and will definitely excite people who like these kind of albums. Just for the record we listened  the following songs: The Beginning Of The End, Among The Wolves, Save Me, Dead & Gone, The Devil You Know, Until We Meet Again, Alexithymia, Broken Down, Farewell (Cold Hearted World).

After listening to the material the members and the recording contributors received questions through which we were able to form a clear view about the style and the way this band works. Soul To Take met in a music forum and common ground in musical directions triggered them to move forward while the internet reduced to zero the geographical distance and gave to the band the possibility to work their material overcoming the difficulties.

The band chooses to release their material independently and not under the umbrella of a label. This is a conscious choice of the members who seek to independently get the feedback for the album from the fans and then determine their next steps. It is worth adding that the first video of Soul to take will be released shortly and the public will soon be able to see it. Metalzone.gr wishes the best for Soul to take awaits the release of the new album and their next  moves.
