Sodom @ AN Club

\r\nΑfter last year’s gig of the German thrash metal gods, expectations were questionable the least to say. Different and small set list each day(it was a 2 day show)while there was also a bizarre mood in the air due to some rumors(not worth mentioning) that just could not hide themselves. So, after a whole year, you didn’t know what to expect. I did however, pay a visit to the gig since my love for Sodom runs a lot of years back.
\r\n
\r\n At this point I want to apologize to Convicted that opened the gig as I arrived at the venue too late(damned traffic!) to see their performance but from what I heard around they kicked ass so I’ll be more careful next time I see them on a billing. Minutes after I entered the club, Released Anger began justifying their name, giving me good impressions from the very beginning. Having a much bigger fan base that the last time I saw them; the band went one with the crowd that was well aware of their material. First moshpits were ignited soon after, while material from all their releases was heard, the 7" and the new full length "Monarch In Life» plus much older stuff. Oldschool thrash filled with all the clichés of the genre that we cherish with vocals drawing influence from old Kreator and Destruction. They ended their set all sweaty and happy. Nice!
\r\n
\r\n Overgarven were next but some kind of accident kept them at bay so the German horde is up next! After short(thank Lemmy!) preparations the trio went on stage and the crowd, that had filled AN club, started cheering and yelling like maniacs before any music was even heard! The band members’ faces were decorated with lit smiles so they threw The Saw Is The Law to our faces. On with The Vice Of Killing followed by Outbreak of Evil afterwards! The crowd went nuts and turned the place into a slaughterhouse with countless stage dives creating havoc off and on stage!
\r\n
\r\n The show went on with ONLY classics following on another to the end:Blasphemer, Remember The Fallen, Sodomy and Lust, Ausgebombt, Agent Orange, Bombenhagel but also many of the ones with German lyrics like  Aber Bitte Mit Sahne and Die Stumme Ursel. Especially after Agent Orange’s first riff the place went to hell, people were jumping from every place possible! The Sodom guys being in a great mood kept giving beers to the front raws thus giving a family vibe to the event. This being my fifth time to see the German outfit I have to admit it was my favorite one. With a one and a half hour set and only classics in the set list (they even played Iron Fist!) there was simply nothing more I could ask for.
\r\n
\r\n After the end of this massacre you could only see smiling faces. Yet, some old farts bitching about everything but without an actual point: get a fuckin’ life! There is nothing that can spoil such a good party!\r\n
