Ancient Balls - Voices

Ancient Balls - Voices

\r\nThis is the worst thing that can happen to me when writing a review for a fresh starter. I hate being mean, especially when the band is new and is trying to establish a first step to the scene with a demo. I will, on the other hand, have to be honest and speak my mind without hiding behind soothing words.
\r\n
\r\n Ancient Balls hail from Salonika, Greece and play death metal. Or at least this is what they claim in the promo sheet. But when firstly looking at the cover, the ancient greek type font and the band’s name bewildered me! Ancient Balls? I thought it would be their humourus themes or their laid back music. But that is not the case. The guys play groovy death metal, without being brutal enough though and with a lack of genuine inspiration and soul. There is no death metal fury, no aggression to fuel their tunes. The riffs are mediocre at best. Structured in a minimal manner, with mid varied tempos and the final blow given by a terrible production, Voices is doomed to oblivion.

\r\n The whole demo has all the bad stuff one need to call it the worst of names I;m afraid. I would like to point out the vocalist’s good enough voice and I will lay my hopes for a better future upon it. Guys you really need to work a lot more on your music, it takes patience and perseverance to come up with something decent. The cover of Rotting Christ’s "King of a Stellar War" is just enough. Nothing more. It has been done before and simply adds nothing to the result. I really hope for an improved second hit.\r\n
