Ava Inferi - Onyx

Ava Inferi - Onyx

\r\nThere are some bands playing Goth metal outhere but unfortunately the term "goth" has
\r\nnot its original meaning anymore, resulting in the crapy records we get in times by those
\r\nbands. Goth metal is not my kind and this is a difficult review for me ’cause we have great
\r\nmusic and feeling here. Ava Inferi is a goth metal band from Portugal but they have
\r\nmembers from bands like Mayhem, Aura Noir etc...In addition to that, in the vocals they
\r\nhave Carmen  Simoes of "Isiphilon" another goth band from Portugal who, as i saw, are
\r\npretty much famous in the goth scene.
\r\n
\r\nAva Inferi’s fourth full length called "Onyx" is here for all the fans of true believe me, very
\r\ntrue dark, goth blackened metal. Fortunately members like Rune Eriksen (Mayhem) on
\r\nguitars, can guarantee at least the dirty, inhuman, black feeling of the human nature,
\r\nmixed with Carmen’s voice in a blissful and harmonic way which is concluding the result in
\r\nthe best possible way. I liked some riffs but most of all, the work in production leaves no
\r\nspace for negative comments, or thoughts about how mediocre can this be as a record in
\r\n2011. No they are all well placed in there, all sounds, drums, voices, mixtures with dirty
\r\nand clean sounds, atmospheres, sound levels. They are all made in a professional way.\r\n

\r\n

\r\nSo when this record sounds great in my ears and i’m not even a fan of this genre, then in
\r\nthe ears of Goth black metal followers this is maybe a new masterpiece.
