Candlemass - Doomology (Box Set)

\r\n2010 has already drowned into the river of oblivion and 2011 is already here, so the new Candlemass release. The Epic Doom Metal Kings have returned but not with a new album , this time the Swedes have released the long time awaited box set “Doomology”,  plain title to describe what these guys do from the early 80’s till today, a title that only a few groups deserve, and Candlemass is one of them!
\r\nSo this Box Set contains 5 cds filled with unreleased live shows, never released demos and in general some great and really rare material for all the Candlemass fanatics and not only. So, let’s have a closer view to the box. CD 1 entitled “First-ever concert in Jönköping” is a live recording of the show in 1987 and represents the raw energy and the doomed atmosphere of Candlemass early live shows. The Second disc "Buckley Tivoli, 1988" is also a live show recorded in 1988, so we have the change to listen live some classic that’s hasn’t been played live too often, classic cuts like “Bearer of Pain”, “Cry From The Crypt” as well as my favourite track off the “Ancient Dreams” LP, “The Bells Of Acheron”! This live recording might not be perfectly recorded but it sounds better than the first CD.
\r\nThe Third disk , entitled “Demos for the white album 2003 – 2004” is of course some demos from the “Candlemass” LP (White Album) with vocals from Messiah, Mats Leven (Krux, Malmsteen, Abstrakt Algebra etc) and of course the awesome demo version of “Witches” with the Mighty Tony Martin On Vocals, Personally I would buy the box set only for this version.
\r\nSo if you the first three cds are enough for you to get hold of this release just wait and let me reveal to you the 2 remaining discs and after that I am sure that you will run to the closest record store to grab your copy. So CD no 4… well this is the “King Of Grey Islands” demos with the vocals of Mats Leven instead those by Robert Lowe that appeared on the final release, this disc is worth buying the whole Box Set for sure and at last but not least the 5th CD that features some demos from “Chapter VI” era (the most underrated Candlemass LP is guess) plus the legendary recordings of the re – audition that Candlemass did to John Lanquist  (Vocals on “Epicus Doomicus Metallicus) for having him again as a vocalist on Chapter VI, but Tomas Vikström did the vocals on the final release. Well guys … I strongly believe that there is nothing more that a Candlemass fan would expect from this Box Set …(well maybe not the “Lucifer Rising” dance version I guess but who gives a Sh*t anyway) Go buy it… NOW!!!!!!!\r\n
