Deus Infestus - Swansongs For This Stillborn Race

Deus Infestus - Swansongs For This Stillborn Race

\r\n

\r\n  Excellent release on the extreme metal scene\r\nby the Greek act Deus Infestus.  From the\r\nlooks of the CD I suspected that these lads engage in traditional black metal\r\nforms of Swedish descent.  The spell of\r\nMarduk and Dissection is present, along with a lot of zest in this twenty-four\r\nminute mini CD that contains five songs.\r\n

\r\n

\r\n  The production is great and a thing to\r\nmention here is that the drums are performed by George Kollias (Nile).  Nonetheless, the highlights of the album are\r\nthe five songs in their entirety (composition-performance-sound) and not the\r\nparticipation of the famous drummer.  Balanced\r\nguitar-oriented sound, tasteful black metal vocals and perfect -of course-\r\ndrumming in relatively conservative tempos. \r\nFeeling and atmosphere above all! \r\nAll tracks are meticulous and include interesting parts, but I could\r\ncertainly underline “God Of I” with its powerful start, melodic and eerie “Cosmos\r\nCreated Anew” and the sad tune “Swansong Of The Stillborn Race”.\r\n

\r\n

\r\n  There is not much else to say.  If you like gloomy black metal sounds,\r\nperformed with sincerity and zest, then give them a chance.  The sample is small but clear.  The one year old band releases its first ΕP and makes a very promising start,\r\nregarding their future in the black metal genre.\r\n
