Devastating Enemy - The Fallen Prophet

\r\n Devastating Enemy’s label calls their music "Modern Melodic Death Metal". I will not necessarily disagree with that but I will feel bad about how low has this genre fallen..thankfully this is not an absolute truth and bands like Symbolic(Ger) are a living proof of the opposite. But let’s see more closely what’s being done here...
\r\n
\r\n I will not exhaust my vocabulary by using every word possible to describe the music contained in The Fallen Prophet. I’ll just go for the good ol’ "mixing stuff" tecnique. So, you take some wannabe melodic death metal, throw in some hardcore breakdowns and a singer that tries to control the planet with his throat. In the struggle, you’ll listen to blasts, melodies kick in here and there, breaks come and go, a few solos emerge but the overall sounds too confusing to comprehent eventually. And just when you try to come to one final conclusion, some emo choruses come to thicken the fog. And you just wander why.

\r\n Inprintint the influences in your own style is a big thing and the guys from Devastating Enemy need to spend a lot more working hours in their rehearsal space in order to be able to write coherent songs with a solid structure. They sound frustrating, the least to say and this needs to change. The vocals sound a lot better when focusing on the more typical screaming style than trying to add pig squeels or deep growls or even melo choruses. They have the tech skills required and the strong production may help them pass their tunes to a younger audience. To my mind though need they to work thoroughly on their ideas though..a more concentrated outcome is needed.
