EIGHTY ONE HUNDRED - Heaven In Flames

Εδώ έχουμε μια αρκετά ενδιαφέρουσα περίπτωση. Οι Eighty One Hundred είναι από την Ιταλία, και το “Heaven In Flames” το κυκλοφόρησαν μόνοι τους το 2018. Πριν λίγο καιρό συμφώνησαν με την Pure Steel Promotion, και έτσι ο δίσκος έρχεται ξανά στο προσκήνιο με σαφώς μεγαλύτερη διάδοση. Η μουσική τους, αν την δεις ενιαία και συνολικά, δεν περιγράφεται εύκολα, αλλά ακούγοντας μεμονωμένα τραγούδια τα πράγματα, είναι αρκετά πιο απλά.

Το συγκρότημα έχει τον δικό του ήχο και χαρακτήρα σε μεγάλο βαθμό. Η πρώτη τους προσπάθεια έχει πολλά μελωδικά σημεία, με το πνεύμα του power/progressive metal να παραμονεύει στα περισσότερα από αυτά, αλλά και μπόλικες heavy και speedy στιγμές.

Υπάρχουν τρία καταπληκτικά κομμάτια - ύμνοι, τα “Heaven In Flames”, “Payback My Time” και “Mater Gaia” στα οποία πρωταγωνιστούν οι μελωδίες και είναι από τα καλύτερα δείγματα heavy/power/progressive metal που κάποιος μπορεί να ακούσει. Σε αυτά κάποιος μπορεί να θυμηθεί από τους Mystic Force του “A Step Beyond” μέχρι τους Μetal Church του “The Human Factor”. Πραγματικά εξαίσια τραγούδια, που οι πιθανότητες να αντέξουν στον χρόνο και να θεωρηθούν κλασικά στο είδος τους είναι μεγάλες. Το “Cry Out” από την άλλη είναι σχεδόν γερμανικό speed metal. To ίδιο γρήγορο είναι το πολύ καλό “No Way Out”, αλλά εδώ υπάρχει και μια πολύ όμορφη λυρική δραματικότητα. Το τελευταίο κομμάτι είναι το πιο heavy και το πιο πειραματικό. Σε αυτό κάποιοι μπορεί θυμηθούν τους Nevermore  – στη μουσική μόνο όμως, όχι τα φωνητικά. Γιατί τα φωνητικά είναι πολύ πιο μελωδικά σε σχεδόν κλασικό heavy/power στυλ.

Το πρώτο άλμπουμ των Eighty One Hundred θα είναι από τις πιο ενδιαφέρουσες περιπτώσεις για όποιον ασχοληθεί σοβαρά μαζί του. Δεν είναι όλα τα τραγούδια στο ίδιο ύφος, και λογικά θα το εκτιμήσουν περισσότερο οι οπαδοί του power/progressive. Αξίζει όμως να το ακούσουν και οι πιο παραδοσιακοί οπαδοί για κάποιες υπέροχες μελωδικές στιγμές που έχει.

Here's a pretty interesting case. Eighty One Hundred is from Italy, and the band released "Heaven In Flames" on its own in 2018. Recently, they agreed with Pure Steel Promotion, so the album is back in the spotlight with a much more vivid publicity. Their music, if you look at it as a whole, is not easily described, but listening to individual songs is much simpler.

The band has its own sound and character to a great extent. Their first attempt has many melodic points, with the spirit of power/progressive metal lurking in most of them, as well as plenty of heavy and speedy moments.

There are three amazing tracks - hymns, "Heaven In Flames", "Payback My Time" and "Mater Gaia", where their melodies leave you speechless. These songs are some of the best heavy/ power/progressive metal samples one can hear. Perhaps they remind bands like Mystic Force and their “A Step Beyond” album or even Metal Church’s, “The Human Factor”. Truly exquisite songs that stand a big chance to remain classical in their genre. "Cry Out", on the other hand, is almost in a German speed metal style. Equally fast is the great track "No Way Out", but here there are some very good dramatic tunes as well. The last track is the heaviest and the most experimental. In this one, someone may remember the latest albums of Nevermore - only in music, not the vocals. Because Eighty One Hundred's vocals are much more melodic in an almost classic heavy/power style.

Eighty One Hundred's first album will be one of the most interesting cases for someone who will seriously deal with it. Not all songs are in the same style, and the fans of power/ progressive metal will probably appreciate it more. But it is worth a listen from the more traditional fans, since some wonderful melodic moments that the album has, can easily touch them.
