INDICA - A Way Away

\r\nBefore I start reviewing this one I’d like to make some things clear. Indica has nothing to do with Heavy metal. So what’s this review about? Some of you might ask, well I’m asking myself the same question and honestly I can’t find an answer. Well Indica, as the info sheet suggests are an all-female pop-rock band that are most popular in Finland where they come from. The fact that they signed with a huge metal label like Nuclear Blast could be either by chance (which I don’t think so..) or as a result of a very successful management. Whatever the reason, I don’t think that such a company needed the Finnish Spice Girls on their roaster.
\r\nMusic wise they could be described as the missing link between Nightwish (since their mainman Tuomas Holopainen is responsible for the production) and Blacmore’s Night, a lame description I must admit since they can’t compare neither with Nightwish’s majestic power metal nor with Blackmore’s medieval sense. The compositions of “A Way Away” are nothing more than a bunch of easy listening sing-along-songs that easily become boring and that’s because of the fact that they tend to sound somehow hollow. The voice of the otherwise impressive red hair Johanna "Jonsu" Salomaa with the peculiar English accent for an unknown reason after listening to a few songs started getting on my nerves. Perhaps is all that pop infested singing style or the shallow songwriting..i really can’t tell.
\r\nAs far as I am concerned I should point out that i have no prejudice concerning  the all female bands or the easy listening music but.. come on, if you want to listen to the real stuff why don’t you listen to Blackmore’s Night, Lorena McKennitt or even Nightwish! They are far better than these five lasses.
\r\nAs for Indica, without having any intention of insulting their talent or being disrespectful I’d really suggest to them to consider taking up modeling, as they are far more qualified to stand out, rather than interfering with the music business.
