KISKE/SOMERVILLE - Kiske/Somerville
KISKE/SOMERVILLE - Kiske/Somerville
\r\nAnother release from the former Helloween singer (Yes, this title will follow him weather he likes it or not!) Michael Kiske. This time he seems to move aside his melodic rock, AOR background as he decides to work with Amanda Somerville, well known from her participations on bands like Kamelot and Avantasia among others, creating a well played but rather mediocre Hard Rock/Metal album (though the term “Metal” sounds too heavy for this one!)
\r\nThose of you that hoped for Kiske’s triumphant return when you heard him sing some really awesome tunes like “I Did It My Way” with Revolution Renaissance or “Cross The Line” with Place Vendome, you can wake up now. This is nothing more than an ultra-melodic and in some parts “cheesy” hard rock with the vocals swapping between Mr.Kiske and Mrs.Somerville whose voice leaves me personally indifferent.
\r\nOn the contrary Michael Kiske sings with that distinctive crystal clear voice that made him famous and loved worldwide, but what’s the use? It’s like having the most beautiful and attractive woman by your side and not being able to touch her!
\r\nThough the songs are sounding pretty much the same making the whole album “flat” a couple of them stands out, so we have “If I Had A Wish” and “Devil In Her Heart” that could easily represent this release.
\r\nAnyway, I truly think it’s a shame for Michael’s great talent to be spent on mediocre projects and for him to stubbornly refuse to return to where it truly belongs. On the other hand, everyone is free to choose his own fate.
