Lucky Bastardz - Hated For Who We Are

Lucky Bastardz - Hated For Who We Are

\r\nApart from Motorhead there have been so little bands that managed to play asskicking, raw and dirty rock n roll. Not everyone can achieve this without ending up being repetitive, boring or even worse, a really bad copy of Motorhead. In other words, someone must have guts in order to play this way and with their debut album, "Hated For Who We Are", the italian band "Lucky Bastardz" proove that they do so.\r\n

\r\n

\r\nThe obvious is that L.B. have the genre’s godfathers, Motorhead as their main influence but they try to make their own way adding some punk elements to their music in a logical amount, that only makes it better. Apart from Motorhead, L.B. add elements of bands like Nashville Pussy and The Hellacopters. Paco on guitar and Geppo on vocals are surely the stars of this band. The first one with his great work on riffs and the second one who adds the largest percent of dirt and rawness on L.B.’s music. All that, supported by professional work on production (given the fact that recordings begun on April 2009) , make a hell of an album for L.B. Their cooperation on this album is perfect and it came as a surprise to me that all of the band’s members came from different backgrounds; Geppo (vocals) used to sing for darkwave and gothic bands, Mark on drums used to play for metalcore bands such as the italian act Five Days Of Rain, etc. If I was obligated to mention one negative aspect of their album, I would have to say that 13 songs with an average duration of 3,5 minutes are too many. However, "Hated For Who We Are" is an album that will make you bang your head till you drop on the floor. It is one of the few albums from which I wasn’t able to choose some favourites without having second thoughts about the rest of them. \r\n

\r\nLucky Bastardz proove us what can happen if 4 people who share their mutual love for rock n roll, work hard together. I am sure that with these kinds of albums, they can and must be optimistic for their future and I hope that they will keep up their good work.\r\n
