Mastercastle - Last Desire

Mastercastle - Last Desire

\r\nWhile I wonder how do we label a band, which is “female fronted”, but its music orientation is not close to what this term refers to, I listen to this fresh new band called Mastercastle, which has already released an album back on 2008, entitled “The Phoenix”.
\r\nGiorgia Gueglio ’s voice is very characteristic and makes the songs very powerful, plus, Pier Gonella ‘s guitar parts (Labyrinth/Necrodeath) have a very special position in the compositions and fill them with lots of energy. I think that the rhythm section -Steve Vawamas (bass), and Alessandro Bissa (Vision Divine-drums)- should forefront the mixing. Furthermore, there are some weak spots both on the songs and the vocal lines.
\r\nGenerally, it’s an inspired piece of work which can appeal to fans of more “classical” metal as well as fans of modern metal; it is a mixture of Power Metal and Melodic Metal, while Giorgia ‘s voice and performance, that reminds Anneke and Amy Lee a lot, is not the common one of this music genre, a fact that makes it more difficult to put this band in a specific music category. The fact is that they have confused me, one song is Power Metal and the other is Symphonic/ Melodic Power Metal. \r\n
