NATION DESPAIR - Ruin

Nation Despair might be a Finnish Death metal band, but the sound that emerges from their first EP called “Ruins” is not that similar to the so called Swedish death metal sound. It’s not that they haven’t got any melodic parts on their compositions, is the fact that they prefer to use them less and sound more groovy having as a result to sound more like the American Death metal bands like Six Feet Under and Obituary and less like their countrymen Amorphis.
\r\n“Ruins” is a 6 track EP from which “Oblivion” and “Elizabeth” easily stand out as the more melodic tracks. The production is in very good levels and so is the band’s performing skills.
\r\nTo conclude, “Ruins” is a very good sample of the band’s work but is still a sample, I thing that if they work a bit harder on their compositions and release a full length, they’ll probably catch the attention of the fans and some record company to sign them.
