Obsecration - The Art Of Butchery

Obsecration - The Art Of Butchery

\r\nThe Greeks with the amazing logo count over 20 years of experience in the scene. Still, for some reason they have been dwelling in the deepest corners of the underground. So deep, their very existence was questioned from time to time. Yet, their discography is constant. Every now and then they’d release something, whether a 7 inch or a full length. So, what do we get now?
\r\n
\r\n I’m not aquainted with their entire previous catalogue but having seen Obsecration too many times performing on stage I have had a quite good overview of their work. Their new creation finds them once again...confusing. This is death metal, the old school way, with vocals that bring Deicide to mind(in the good sense) and a blasphemous attitude. But where the whole thing gets peculiar, like it used to, is the random use of keyboards. They bomb us with fury, in the most old school-romantic way, but you also get key parts that seem to have come from another band.
\r\n
\r\n And when songs like "Oblivious...To Ritual" are excellent samples of amazing songwriting, the rest of "The Art Of Butchery" lack the sense of personality. Other parts that need improvement are some guitar leads that may sound out of place. I strongly believe that if there was enough coherence we would be talking about something great but this is mediocre album that brings a lot of questions. At least this is my opinion. Lots of brutal parts and lots of melodice ones but no bridge in between them.
\r\n
\r\n No matter what though, Obsecration are here, alive and delivering to their crowd. Time has little effect on them, so does death.\r\n
