One without - Thoughts of a secluded mind

\r\nJust take the guitar parts and the rhythm section from In Flames, add female, Evanescence-like vocals and a few screams backing up for the choruses and for some bridges, and there you are; the result will be very close to One Without’ s style.
\r\nThis is the debut album for the band, which comes from Gothenburg. According to the promo notes, they want to set new standards to today’s metal music.
\r\nDespite of the death-ish tensions in their music, the whole feeling is pop-ish. The compositions are good in general, modern, catchy, with nice melodies and nice ideas, but…it’s like Evanescence have released a new album with heavy guitars! On one hand Catrin’s voice is extremely similar to Amy Lee’s and on the other hand her singing is exactly the same from the first song till the end of the album. A flat performance, in other words. And that’s boring the least.
\r\nIf they try to be more original and have their own style, I think that we’ll have a group of pretty skilled musicians with very interesting ideas. As long as they keep playing like Evanescence, though, I highly doubt they’ll ever make any difference among so many bands out there.\r\n
