The Project Hate MCMXMCIX - The Lustrate Process

\r\nSwedish outfit The Project Hate MCMXMCIX are running in their 10th year as a band and what better way to celebrate that than a new album. “The Lustrate Process” is their sixth album and definitely one of their best albums, since quality runs through its veins.
\r\nTo those who ignore the musical style of the band, let me just describe it simply as melodic death metal in the Swedish style, however saying just that would be a mistake since The Project Hate MCMXMCIX are a case of some really talented musicians who manage to combine their influences and sound fresh and interesting. In this album one will meet the classic Swedish death metal riffs and vocals and those distinctive Swedish melodies (YES, they are here too!) but also the well-known bipolar of male brutal/female ethereal vocals, with Jorgen Sandstrom and Jonna Enckell playing their parts fairly well, thus granting the album some distinctive moments. As for the music itself, it ranges from clear death metal to epic melodies and even some more atmospheric themes, where also keyboards play their part.
\r\nGenerally, “The Lustrate Process” is a varied album that keeps the listener’s attention alive and needs enough listenings to let you understand how much quality music is hidden in there. The only disadvantage I could refer to is the fact that all of the songs are a bit long, something probably necessary for the band in order to unfold their ideas. A big plus for the album is it’s good production, with Dan Swano giving a helping hand, while there are also some interesting guests such as L.G. Petrov (Entombed), Johan Hegg (Amon Amarth) and Mike Wead (King Diamond/Mercyful Fate) to name a few. So if you’d like some quality death metal then “The Lustrate Process” is an album you should definitely check out.
