Rage - Strings to a Web

Rage - Strings to a Web

Well… this particular day meant to be a great day for me, but I wouldn’t believe how great it would be. Of course one of the main reasons for having such a great day was the listening of the new Rage album, a band than needs no introduction, 25 years they are serving the classic heavy metal scene with good and better releases but especially for Greek people Rage is one of the most beloved bands out there.
\r\n
\r\nThe new released will be entitled “Strings To A Web” and is excepted to be released in early February (February 5th 2010). Just before entering to the listening process of this promo I was a little bit anxious about the final out come because I consider my self as one of the most demanding Rage fans and even a bad moment on the album would really disappoint me.
\r\n
\r\nBut thankfully there is not such a bad moment, Peavy and his company (Victor Smolski and Andre Hilgers) are taking us to a trip to the multidimensional music habits of the band, with classic heavy power tracks like “Hellgirl” and “Purified” that in my humble opinion must be two of the greatest tracks of the recent Rage releases. Also to the newer music direction of the band also the progressive side of the band with the hyper epic “Strings to a Web” that really blew me away!!! But for sure the highlight of the album is the track “Empty Hollow” that appears divided in five individual tracks and it’s length is about 17 minutes long, a track that “smells” so intensively “Lingua Mortis”.
\r\n
\r\nWell what am I supposed to write about Peavy’s trademark voice, or Smolski’s guitar and production? Or even for Hilgers’ playing ability? I think that it would be a total waste of time. Now about the compositions, the album has it all, power metal, speed metal, progressive metal and orchestral parts in the classic Rage forms of composing plus a crystal clear production…
\r\n
\r\nIn Conclusion…this is Rage one of the best and most important heavy metal bands ever (if you don’t agree, then you just don’t listen to Heavy Metal so you are excused) and they are about to release a great album. So any of you fans of the band wait till the release day to grab your special edition copy with a bonus DVD that features the Wacken with some guests like Hansi of Blind Guardian and Schmier of Destruction.
