SALTATIO MORTIS - WER WIND SAET

\r\nIt is true that Greek fans aren’t used to the folkish bands from Germany who sweep German metal heads off their feet. I am talking about bands like IN EXTREMO or DIE APOKALYPTISCHEN REITER who sing in the German language and include folkish elements and musical instruments in their music. However should you have the time to check them out you might find very refreshing elements within the genre and even more refreshing bands. This is exactly the case with SALTATIO MORTIS. The band’s name means the dance of the dead in Latin and indeed the atmospheres they create is like a medieval nightmare with all sorts of mythical and magical creatures dancing around the fire and playing tricks on us poor ignorant humans. They were formed back in 2000 and have been growing ever since. Their previous release is what put them in what we may say the spotlight as they managed to climb the charts, and they expect nothing less with this release. They use traditional instruments, such as the bagpipe or hurdy-gurdy and the voice of their singer Alea is the extra note that completes a very interesting whole. Putting Wer Wind Saet in my player I got the image of a huge fire in a castle, goblins and jesters dancing around it while SALTATIO MORTIS play by it. Being a lyrics freak as I am listening to German lyrics which I don’t understand wasn’t easy but I enjoyed the album very much and will definitely get a copy of it once it’s out on August 31st (EUROPE) through Napalm Records. Below you’ll find their first video from their new album so you can get a taste of their style… \r\n
