Samael - Above

After roaming around the Industrial/gothic world and leaving behind all these dark electro ambient crap, Samael returned to their Black Metal roots.
\r\n“Above” is their latest release and is nothing more than a come back to their original sound. The otherworldly shadow of this album seems to rise majestically “Above” all their previews releases breeding new darkness which seems to take form through demonic blastbeating, nightmarish guitar riffs and hellish growls while the absence of keys makes the whole album sounding raw and merciless.
\r\nIt is true, the tempo of this album is taking over, leading you to a never before experienced black metal frenzy. There are no electro experimentations here neither ambient ghosts. Only Primal Darkness rules. Pure darkness that feeds from their first albums, and there in this bottomless void their black silhouettes reign supreme and majestic through their macabre compositions. “Above” is Samael’s new spell, a curse that will wake your worst nightmares. It will tear down this ordinary world in which we all pretend to exist and will reveal an alternate reality, a reality so grim and bizarre. No one can escape their eternal curse. It will haunt you, torture you and finally it will inject into your fragile reality like the serpent’s venom from the artwork of ceremony of opposites.
\r\nA universal truth is that all things are coming full circle, returning back to where they came from. Back to where they belong. Experimenting is “good” (a matter of speaking…) but homecoming is even better.
