SHREDDING THE ENVELOPE - The Call Of The Flames

SHREDDING THE ENVELOPE - The Call Of The Flames

When you are a promising young guitarist full of passion, hopes and dreams for a career in the Metal scene and you come across Dave Mustaine who advises you to study further, taking your skills to another level and to learn about the Music Business, how it works (Mustaine knows best if you ask me..) how do you expect your band to sound like? Of course like Megadeth (and there’s nothing wrong with that)!
\r\nShredding The Envelope is actually the personal bet of the shredder Dave Reffett and “The Call Of The Flames” is an exceptional work in its whole. Simple as that. Mr. Reffett here influence mostly by Megadeth’s style in composing and singing (well there were times that I thought that Mustaine was actually singing!) offers us 9 compositions that will impress even the most demanding shredder! Dave Reffett’s technique and songwriting skills are truly amazing while the participation of some well known and equally taleneted musicians like George Lynch (Dokken), Chris Poland (x-Megadeth), Glen Drover (x-Megadeth), Michael Angelo Batio and many more make the whole result a real dynamite!
\r\nI couldn’t pick up a single song from this one since I think that each and every track has its own character (there are compositions varying from classic Metal and Thrash to flamenco intros and groovy tempos!!) something that makes it even more interesting. Well those who liked the latest Megadeth release will surely love this one! The only flaw in this release is the cover artwork. It really sucks!
\r\nWell, one thing is for sure, that by listening to “The Call Of The Flames” many promising guitarists will think twice before they touch the six string Goddess again.
