Sodom - In War and Pieces

Sodom - In War and Pieces

\r\n
\r\nThe revival of Thrash Metal from new founded bands the last few years (“Fueled By Fire”, “Bonded By Blood”, “Municipal Waste” etc…) is old news. What is really astonishing the last two years or so is that the “old guard” is releasing not only great albums but in some cases these releases are good beyond any expectation! The examples are many, Kreator, Exodus, Destruction, Heathen, Death Angel….and many more. To all this Thrash massacre Sodom could not be absent. So they have returned with a new album to blow our brains out!
\r\n“In War and Pieces” is really their best release since the exceptional “M-16”! Nothing less than a well oiled war machine that leaves nothing in its way. Sodom are no strangers to war. In fact they are veterans and as such they do what they do best. They kill!!
\r\nTom Angelripper barks the orders and the attack begins. In this battle they take no prisoners, they show no mercy. Total annihilation. The orders are clear! Machine-gunner Bernemann unleashes a barrage of killer riffs maiming and crippling the enemy in a bloodthirsty frenzy while Bobby Schottkowski’s artillery strike simply obliterates what is still standing. If you add to all this a massive production then we’re not talking about another great Sodom album but a goddamn nuclear bomb!
\r\nCommenting on each song separately is meaningless to me. It’s like having to choose a different caliber bullet to your target, each doing incremental damage but all have the same effect. Death!
\r\nThe very first riff will take you to the line of fire, where there’s no return, where the only purpose is to exterminate the enemy using any means necessary. Where the heat of the battle becomes second nature and the beast within awakens, taking control, eviscerating the enemy, leaving only bloody body parts. At the end of the listening process, when there’ll be nothing laft to kill, you’ll be standing at the top of the hill, exhausted and drenched in blood with a worry look for all the corpses around you and before you know it you push the “repeat” button!
\r\n“To survive war, you must become war”
