VINDEX - Ultima Thule

VINDEX - Ultima Thule

“Ultima Thule” is the third release of the Slovak band Vindex. Unfortunately I am not familiar with their music and having not listened to their previews albums I can’t make any comments on their progress in composing and performing.
\r\nWhat I’m listening to here is a pretty decent Heavy/Power Metal album on the tracks of Gamma Ray and Grave Digger with all its cliché. We’ve got galloping riffing, melodic soloing and last but not least, the necessary epic sounding choruses that the genre demands. The production is in very good levels as it is the performance of the band. All is well placed but I can’t say that their compositions (though Grave Digger’s Manni Schmidt is participating on “Reptilization”) are not something exciting, of course that doesn’t mean in any case that they are indifferent or whatever, they are just thing I’ve heard before, and to be clear: no I don’t expect something new or groundbreaking from a Power Metal band (God forbid, we’re not all prog-minded) what I expect is a song that will blow my mind, making me delirious for days and unfortunately in this album, despite Vindex’s good effort, there’s not such a song. In their next one maybe…we’ll see.
