Virgin Steele - The Black Light Bacchanalia

Virgin Steele - The Black Light Bacchanalia

At last, four years have passed since the last release of David Defeis and co, and since I got the promo copy of the new album, I have to admit that I felt such an anxiety while pushing the “play Button” to begin the listening session of the new album, “The Black Light Bacchanalia”. I have also to admit that despite the great amount of love I have for this band, their previous album “Visions Of Eden” left me unsatisfied, thus the whole anxiety.
\r\nBut this weird feeling stopped as soon as the first notes came on and the classic “roar” of David filled the air. Up Tempo feeling on the most of the tracks with the classic way of Virgin Steele to put the listener through changes with their Heavy Metal sound transformed into orchestral / operatic / classical music and then back into the Heavy Metal sound, the unique music of Virgin Steele.
\r\nWhat should anyone expect from Virgin Steele, unless Heavy Metal with many classical influences, many melodic lines either from Defeis unique voice, either Purisno’s melodic lines and solos, since I mentioned Pursino, on this album sounds really great, So in specific parts we got the great riffing of him, and on other parts we got some great Virgin Steele alike choruses that only Defeis voice could perform with such a great feeling and lyricism.
\r\nTracks like τα  “The Bread Of Wickedness”, Nepenthe, To Crown Them With Halos, and the epic “Necropolis” should be the reason to purchase this release that will be released on three different version, the standart jewel case cd, the digipack Double Cd, plus the limited Box edition that will feature the album on vinyl (at last) , the jewel case cd plus a book featuring the history of Virgin Steele, by David Defeis.
