Winterus - In Carbon Mysticism

Winterus - In Carbon Mysticism

\r\nSometimes the most bizzare the case of a band, the better stuff you’ll get in the end. The unknown is always an interesting place to find the good stuff my grandpa used to say(no, he never did really). Winterus hail from the US though the music they play is more european-oriented. They signed with Lifeforce Records so now they have the chance to promote their tunes even further. So, I concider myself lucky enough to have discovered them even this way.

\r\n We’re dealing with a death/black metal outfit, real emotionally heavy music that produces amazing atmosphere. Winterus follow no stereotypes. The songs are free to stretch themselves as much as they have to in order to reach the desired feeling. And that feeling is no other than melancholy and this sense of a deep dive into the morbid dream, desperation. I’d say they remind me of the latest The Funeral Pyre album with bits of the Wolves In The Throne Room ideals. At some parts the band decides to withdraw the vocals and leaves the guitars do the talking. This is what I loved the most, because their riffing has a lot to say to the heart and soul. Soundtrack to the isolated moments, ideal for days(or nights for that matter) of low moral. It can actually work as a painkiller, channeling negadivity.

\r\n Αnother thing I felt respect for is that they dared to record live the last 3 songs of the In Carbon Mysticism in order to capture the right feeling. And even though you might notice the difference in terms of sound it matters not eventually because the quality of the songs remains on top. The 9 songs contained in this album are trippy, strong and heavy as fuck. This blury painting they create is of utter beauty, a scenery unknown yet familiar. Pay a visit if you’re looking for deep, ebony music.\r\n
