Ace Frehley - Anomaly

Ace Frehley - Anomaly

\r\nPeople older than me will surely know who Ace Frehley is. Paul Daniel “Ace” Frehley was an original member and guitarist for the legendary KISS who took the persona of “The Spaceman” when the band decided to adopt costumes and theatrics. His solos were the band’s trademark during the 70’s until he departed from the group in 1982. His bad habits brought his life at stake many times and many are the people who think that, due to this fact, he never offered as much as he possibly could. He reunited with Kiss in 1996 for a reunion tour and stayed with them until 2002. So, 20 years minus 1 one month (“Trouble Walkin’ “ was released on October 13, 1989) Ace has returned with a work that will stick you down to the ground.\r\n

\r\nWell, it’s so different when you hear someone so experienced, a legend indeed making an album in the year 2009. While other bands struggle to create mediocre albums, a 58 year old man can vanquish every one of them in the blink of an eye. Top quality hard rock and guitar work that is expected from an artist of Ace’s level. However, I’m not saying at all that this outcome was self-evident. We’ve seen a lot of legends becoming humiliated with new albums that weren’t able to cope with their fame and what was expected from them. To be more specific, his trademark riffs and solos are still alive and kicking but as he’s stated his music has been updated to his own current orientations. Either instrumental or lyrical, all tracks surely are kickass! Taking it from the beginning “Foxy and Free” throws you down to the ground and you stay there until “Fractured Quantum” which melodically sets you free. During these two, you have been well beaten by dynamites such as “Outer Space”, “Pain In The Neck” and “Space Bear”.\r\n

\r\nThe album is entitled “Anomaly”. Yes, it can be considered like an abnormality in today’s world. Artists of his stature are not so "normal" in the year 2009. Why? Well...either this or music today is not seen as product and a chance for a quick buck. Keep on rockin’…\r\n

\r\nP.S. A little trivia... Frehley was in a New York street gang called The Duckies with Steven Edward Duren (aka Blackie Lawless, who would later become frontman for heavy metal band W.A.S.P.)...coincidence?\r\n
