THE BRIGHTLY SHINING SEA - The Brightly Shining Sea

THE BRIGHTLY SHINING SEA - The Brightly Shining Sea

Surely this is a pretty strange name for a band and so is their music since I could not label them to a category that would efficiently describe the genre they represent. Maybe this is their goal, since their intense experimental mood prevents anyone from categorizing them to a specific genre. The opening track “Prelude: in crimson” is a nightmarish violin melody where the bow could literally dance on your nerves instead of the violin’s strings. As long as the music of the CD lasts influances of all kinds of hard music are parading before your… ears. Here we have Black metal elements, death metal attitude, creepy Pink Floyd-ish parts and on top, a singer who dares to give out all the repulsion and hate that the lyrics imply in the most raw and hideous way.
\r\nThere is a very good job on the production as well as in the album’s artwork (we’re reviewing a Greek band here) and something tells me that we will hear from “The Brightly Shining Sea” very soon. The spell is cast, we’re waiting for the aftermath.
