HEATHENDOM - The Symbolist

The Athenian quintet at last returns with the successor of their debut album “Nescience”, an album that left a whole heritage behind, like great reviews from all over Europe, many live shows in Europe and Greece plus the fact that their label had to re release their album due too it’s sold out status.
\r\nThe main question I had all these months was “Ok guys after all this success of your debut, how could you enter the studio to compose the next one” If I was the guitarist my pick would weight over 3 tones, just like my drumsticks etc. The good fact is, that despite all this success Heathendom as a professional band, focused on evolving their music without loosing the music identity of their first release, thus the new album “Symbolist” stuck in the stereo for about two weeks or so.
\r\nSo here we have a variety of sounds and tempos, from the doom- ish opus “Die Insane” to more up tempo stuff like “The Symbolist” , but another fact that really made me enjoy the album is the variations of tempos within the same tracks, something that Heathendom did also on their first release. The guitars sound heavy and solid while the rhythm section stays tight and thick! Dimitris sounds once again superb and in this particular album his vocal lines are sickest than before…just a step before reaching the “paranoid” status.
\r\nHeathendom ‘s  main influences are of course the Technical Swedish doom metal scene, while showing their respect and devotion to Sanctuary / Nevermore feeling and all these elements with a touch of King Diamond’s paranoia! So this is what are you about to listen on “Symbolist” all of the above plus some “catchy” choruses , some progressive elements, an eerie atmosphere, Doom Metal that evolves to Speed Metal and opposite, a “cursed” violin on “Die Insane”, one of the greatest vocalist of the metal scene (and not only for Greece) and all those things that the creative paranoiac imagination of L.V. & co brought to life… well done guys, you’ve just created another “sick monster”!!!
