The third part of the Hellenic Forces compilations is here to scream: No more prejudice against Greek bands! They have finally reached a technical and sound point where they can stand proudly next to worldwide known bands.
This CD contains 15 tracks from (relatively) older bands such as Power Crue and Everdome, some that don’t exist anymore (Brainfade, Shadow Veil) and some new, rising (hopefully) stars in the scene like The Silent Rage and Wishdoom (from whom I absolutely loved their respective songs Perished in Flames and My Wish your Doom).
The song choices on the CD are pretty good resulting a pleasant listening through out the entire disc. There is a nice balance of songs all in the same mood, with very little exceptions that still don’t ruin the whole. Nevertheless this review targets the CD as a compilation and not each band/song individually. So, as stated above, there is a dominant genre throughout the tracks and that is Power Metal. Most songs are speedy and epic –Not that this implies that Greek bands are mainly influenced by Helloween or Blind Guardian, but rather the compilation’s creator must’ve thought, all these songs would make a nice compilation. Well he convinced me!
The conclusion is that, if you ever asked yourselves: “What are metalheads in Greece playing?” Then this CD might solve that. On the other hand if you’re a fan of fast tunes and axe-and-sword-battle oriented themes reason to obtain it.
