Mistweaver - Tales from the Grave

Mistweaver - Tales from the Grave

It is weird the fact that i hear of Mistweaver for the first time, as they exist for many years,
\r\n(since 1997) and their first album was released in 2001. These guys are from Spain and as
\r\ni read in the discriptions they play melodic death metal but this is a little bit different when you listen to the album but let’s see what truly these guys do.
\r\n
\r\n"Tales from the Grave" is Mistweaver’s fourth release and it comes to the public after 5 years
\r\nof silence when they released their previous album. The music here works pretty well but
\r\nlooks outdated. The album begins with a typical intro and then "Sons Of Darkness" speaks
\r\nclearly of what Mistweaver offers. Big deathish riffs and an extreme power/heavy feeling along
\r\nwith crystal clear production. I think those ingredients are more than enough for this music.
\r\nThe band plays well. They serve the purpose of this kind of metal with accurate playing on the strings and aggressive parts. Most of the time bands like Mistweaver mix their music with ideas thats ruining the whole project. Hopefully these guys are far from it. They are traditional, with a good knowledge of old music in these -suffering from copied music- days. They maybe look a little standardised but i think thats the way of this music. I think that this band cleverly avoided all the traps of repeating music and created an album that will not let any of the old heavy/power/melodic death fans down. As for me i founded it well played for this kind and for our days but boring too, with atmospheric parts needed more work and aggressive but outdated riffs.
