NOCTUM - The Seance

NOCTUM - The Seance

During the last week, since the day I got my hands on the debut album by the Swedish outfit Noctum, is really difficult for me to listen to anything else than “The Seance”.
\r\nNoctum is a new band hailing from Uppsala, Sweden, that follows the “new” sound of the Swedish doom rock scene and groups like, Witchcraft, Burning Saviors, Graveyard, etc. It’s about the classic Doom Rock sound of the 70’s heavy influenced by acts like the early Black Sabbath sound as well as the early Pentagram demos released way back in  the 70’s, plus other bands featuring the distinctive 70’s sound.
\r\nSo “The Séance”, which is about to be released sometime in September on High Roller records on vinyl (for now) is an exquisite sample of this sound with many occult references , something that is obvious from the album title, as well as the great cover of the LP. Pure, vintage sound, which takes the listener back in time. Heavy Riffing and gloomy atmosphere is the main features of the album that features also a track sung in Swedish (“Den Onda Trollpackan”)
\r\nAs I previously said, this album tends to be my “obsession “ since I am already addicted to this kind of sound, sounds that came from the past, to reminds us that the most unique and distinctive albums of the music we all love, have been released back it that time. So my recommendation for this autumn that has already arrived, is remove the dust from your old turntable, grab a copy of “the Seance” (the purple one , since there are going to be three vinyl editions, with different colours) and let the great music of Noctum to do the rest!
