Sancta Sanctorum - The Shining Darkness

Sancta Sanctorum - The Shining Darkness

At last… First of all I d like to admit that I won’t be objective on this release because it really means a lot to me, and the only reason I’m writing this review is that it could be such a same to “bury” this diamond under the pile of shit that everyday reach metalzone.gr
\r\nIt’s more that reasonable that the name Sancta Sanctorum doesn’t ring a bell to you, but If the same thing happens by the hearing of the names Steve Sylvester, Thomas H. Chaste, Danny Hughes, then you don’t have a clue about Italian Heavy Metal scene. These three gentlemen were members of the first historical line up (1977 – 1984) of the Italian Legends Death SS, with only Steve remaining till the latest disband of Death SS (2008). So Sylvester / Chaste / Hughes after 26 years decided to join their forces and talent again, so the outcome sounds like the old death ss demo sound but with stong touch of 70’s rock and psych touches. Needless to say that Tomas H. Chaste that composed and produced the album along with Sylvester of course, on his latest works uses a lot of 70’s psych elements, and of course Sylvester cherishes a lot this sound, as it can be audible on his solo albums.
\r\nOn this opus entitled “The Shining Darkness” you are about to witness the psych/ 70’s / Doom metal in all it’s glory, after all these guys were some of the pioneers of this sound back in the late 70’s. Moreover you are about to enjoy once again the classic voice of Steve, the “experimental” sound of Thomas’ drums and keyboards, the quest appearance of Mario Di Donato the leader of the Italian progressive Doom band The Black as well as the pioneers of Italian sound “Requiem” plus the quest appearance of B.J. from Doomraiser, so the veterans meet the “fresh blood” of Italian occult doom metal scene.
\r\nThe album is outhere waiting for you to get your copy, personally I loved my Limited edition on purple vinyl copy, get yours….
