In “Descend Into Maelstrom” (in which the guitar work is absolutely perfect!) you can feel the horror of plunging into the darkest depths of the ocean knowing that there’s no way back, while in the nightmarish “I Dined With The Swans” you can almost sense the blood of the swans on your lips, the taste of death, living out the creeping paranoia of the deranged serial killer of the story. It’s really unbelievable not only the capturing, as well as theatrical, performance on the vocals (that change tone depending on the play/song) but also the dark symphonic instrumentations entwining the song creating the feel of an upcoming doom! That is the secret recipe that makes you live (and not only listen to) the chilling, deathlike atmosphere of “A Romance With The Grave”, the unspeakable horror of “The Outsider”, the gloomy aura of “Mother Nothingness”, the majestically repulsive “The Foul Within” and finally the indescribable repugnance of “He Who Paints The Black Of Night”.
