GANG - Bill
First of all we would like you to tell us what´s new with the band.
\r\n\r\n
Bill : well, lot of news. Really. We have just released a new live album. A full one this time. We get the opportunity of a live recording during the "inject the venom" tour. This is also the first ever live album from a French band recorded in the home of Heavy Metal. It seems , GanG will be part of French heavy metal history now :-) ( joke!!!)
\r\n\r\n
We are also working on our coming studio album, the 7th one. We expect a release for 2016. But meanwhile, we embark on a new European tour to celebrate our 25 years playing heavy metal.
\r\n\r\n
Tell us a few words to describe Live Is All.
\r\n\r\n
Bill : as,mention before, it s a live album. We issued in 2013 a long size live EP. But this one is a real full length.
\r\n\r\n
This was not really planned in fact. We were supposed to work on and release our new album during 2015. But our show of SOS fest in Manchester, UK was recorded. We buy the tapes. It sounded so good that we decided to make it real and available for fans. It was the perfect timing. The SOS fest was one of the latest gig of this tour.
\r\n\r\n
We try to make this record closest to what we are. It s raw not over produced, no massive overdub and re recording. It s just as we are. Be true to yourself.
\r\n\r\n
Apart from your participation in Rock you to Hell have you got any other live appearances lined up?
\r\n\r\n
Bill : oh yes!!! We get our new tour starting now. We ll play several fest : Vouziers with all 80s major French acts such as ADX, Killers, Vulcain, Blaspheme, Square, Satan Jokers,... We ll also play our own fest in our town, like British Steel fest with Tokyo Blade, The Deep, Rock Goddess, Blaze Bayley, Absolva. We’ll play Wizz fest in Belgium too and UK again with SOS fest and some other dates here and there.
\r\n\r\n
We are lucky to play regularly with all our idols, Tysondog, Avenger, Venom inc / Mpire of Evil, Girlschool, Tygers of Pan Tang, OD Saxon, ....
\r\n\r\n
Is the time more appropriate for your sound – are new funs getting into your music?
\r\n\r\n
Bill : yes for sure. We’re now a quite old band and we’re stronger years after years. Time was hard for old school metal bands. It was funny cos if you re born in the late 80s/90/ and play heavy from the 80s it sounded cool. We were considered as a old bands playing old music. Today, old school heavy is back and we get more and more new fans and some are really young-) anyway, good times, bad times, we take a lot of pleasure with our music on stage and we hope fans too.
\r\n\r\n
What are the differences in the music scene today than in the 80s?
\r\n\r\n
Bill : Internet and technology makes the difference. It s very easier today to get good guitars and recording an album. This ends with tons of bands and albums. Lot of record companies too. But most of bands forget one thing. Music and metal has to be played live first.
\r\n\r\n
And if technology can make it easier, don’t forget to build your own sound. Too much bands copying their sound and trying to sound the same.
\r\n\r\n
Do you listen to any new bands that you like?
\r\n\r\n
Well I still discover some old bands. What I m looking for is bands with a real personality, playing its own sound. Absolva was a real discovery. Great live bands and fantastic guys, such as Spirit, Stratageme and so many more.
\r\n\r\n
What are your expectations for Rock you to hell? What have you hear about the Greek audience?
\r\n\r\n
We expect Greek fans to appreciate our music and get fun watching us. We’re quite crazy on stage. We come from the 80s so don’t expect me to stay hidden behind my mic or our guitars. It won’t be a rehearsal live, trying to sound like a studio gig. We promise you a blast with high pitched vocals, energy, furious solo, pounding drums. This will be raw and intense. We’re here to make a big party with metal heads and make the stage as hot for our friends playing after us. We’ve heard the Greek fans are among the hottest one in Europe. So we expect headbanging, fist in the air, sign of the devil, and screams. We know Greek fans give a lot of respect to bands, be it an opener or a headliner. They’re true, sincere and driven by passion. We’re really impatient to meet them and share good times on and off stage.
