PRIMORDIAL - Alan "Nemtheanga" Averill

\r\nGiven the chance by Primordial’s two shows in Greece Elena Mihailidou and Myra Paksinou from Metalzone.gr recently conducted an interview with the band’s soul Alan "Nemtheanga" Averill. Alan talked to us about how it feels to be back in Greece. Their latest release To The Nameless Dead and the feedback they’ve received so far. As he admits the standards are higher than ever now.
\r\n
\r\nHe talks about the fact that they recorded their album in an analog way. He says he hates the machine made sound and he wants to sound like a band playing and not a perfectly polished sound, he prefers making mistakes.
\r\n
\r\nHis first concern is not to compromise with anything. He feels the metal scene needs bands like Primordial to challenge it. Bands, that don’t talk about leprechauns or drinking beer. Bands that talk about something that actually means something.
\r\n
\r\nHe prefers making references to something historical that has a meaning to today for those looking for a deeper meaning. And maybe rise the level of cultural awareness.
\r\n
\r\nAlan says they still rehearse like when they were 17 years old. He says he writes lyrics independently and when they all interact in the studio they argue! He says he is influenced by Greek bands like Rotting Christ, Varathron, Necromantia, old Septic Flesh etc.
\r\n
\r\nAs he says this summer is going to be a very busy one with extensive touring and also appearances in summer festivals in Europe and as he admits the mundane things in life will probably keep them from doing a US tour. They will not release anything new for the coming year, and if he had the chance to co operate with an artist he would like to co operate with Johnny Cash.
\r\n

\r\nAlan also speaks his mind about illegal downloading and how it is a two edged knife!
