\r\nMetalzone: First of all, I’d like to thank you for taking the time to do this interview, it’s an honor to have you in Metalzone.gr
\r\nMat Sinner:
… well it’s a pleasure for me!
\r\n
\r\nMetalzone: Let’s begin from your upcoming release Crash And Burn, tell us about the context, the lyrics, the music and what inspired you to give such a title to this album?
\r\nMat Sinner:
We wanted to write and record a real rock’n roll album. Raw, rough, dirty – all the attributes should be noticed on this album. The lyrics should fit to the melodies or riffs and be well based on the daily mess we’re living in. Some kind of a rebel or outlaw feeling, which fits very well to the four charatcters in the band!
\r\n
\r\nMetalzone: What about the recording, production and mixing?
\r\nMat Sinner:
We wrote the songs from January till April, then recorded at the House of Music with engineer Dennis Ward, Henny & me produced the album. Mix & mastering was handled by Achim Koehler. Everything was well under control. The vibe during the recordings was killer! Everybody was so into it, it was a pleasure to work with these guys. We used very vintage stuff on this album, like old Marshall amps and even older Les Paul guitars and T-bird basses. Every little thing is handmade, even the cowbell and percussions.
\r\n
\r\nMetalzone: When should we expect the release? Are you going to tour in support of it?
\r\nMat Sinner:
We’re all very satisfied with the album and of course we want to go out an play shows. Our agency is working on different possibilities at the moment. Would be cool to play an entire European tour again with Sinner. As Henny & me put a lot of work & time in Primal Fear, it would be fantastic to play the new songs to as many people live as possible. Btw – the band kicks ass on stage!
\r\n
\r\nMetalzone: Are there any chances of seeing you live in Greece?
\r\nMat Sinner:
If there is any motivated promoter out there, who wants to work with us and sets up some serious shows, we’re coming – of course!
\r\n
\r\nMetalzone: Sinner are a long time running band yet they haven’t really been acknowledged for the great music you’ve released over the years, why is that in your opinion?
\r\nMat Sinner:
Some countries of course and some countries not, but that’s no problem, because we didn’t tour as much as we should do. Sinner is a great live band and every show is a big party. If you wanna have fun, let’s watch a Sinner show. If you want to be sad and you want to get hurt – dodn’t come to our concerts
\r\n
\r\nMetalzone: How would you describe the musical style of SINNER? In what genre of metal would you put it?
\r\nMat Sinner:
Traditional heavy rock, with balls & attitude!
\r\n
\r\nMetalzone: Would you say you neglect SINNER in order to be more dedicated to Primal Fear?
\r\nMat Sinner:
I don’t combine anything here and it’s no question I can answer in this case. Primal Fear is my priority and will be forever. But on the other side I’m so thankful, that I can still do my Sinner stuff, that I will do this shit forever as long as it makes sense and people buying our albums and coming to our concerts!
\r\n
\r\nMetalzone: To what extent is Primal Fear’s music similar to SINNER’s? In which one do you prefer to play?
\r\nMat Sinner
: Primal Fear is Metal, Sinner is Hard Rock – Primal Fear is playing 90% more shows than Sinner. I would be a jerk if I would prefer to play in Sinner than in Primal Fear. Primal Fear is more serious, but nowadays a worldclass. The new line-up is the best band I’ve ever played with!
\r\n
\r\nMetalzone: Which metal genre do you feel is trendier nowadays?
\r\nMat Sinner:
I love the days, were Metal was ONE community and not splitted up in so many genres. The people should be more tolerant and listen more to Metal overall and only their little genre. Some combinations could be a lot of more interesting than an evening with the same kind of style.
\r\n
\r\nMetalzone: Would you change something in your music in order to be more commercial?
\r\nMat Sinner:
Oh no! I can do whatever I want and I play the music I want. A commercial view has nothing to do with success anymore. I try to be myself and have the most possible fun with the songs and the work I’m doing!
