TRAIL OF TEARS - Ronny Thorsen

Given the chance by their upcoming show in Athens we had the chance to interview, Trail Of Tears vocalist Ronny Thorsen. Here is what he had to say

\r\nMetalone.gr: First of all let me welcome you in Metalzone.gr
\r\nRonny Thorsen:Thanks a lot, my pleasure!
\r\n
\r\nMetalzone.gr: Your latest release Bloodstained Endurance has been out for almost six months- what feedback have you received? Is it everything you hoped for?
\r\nRonny Thorsen: We are extremely satisfied with the album and the feedback both from the media as well as the fans has probably never been this good. I feel that the band really managed to balance the past and the present on the record and in that way it feels kind of like one step back and two steps forward. Even with new members in the line-up it sounds very much like Trail of Tears but the new blood has also brought a new-found energy and enthusiasm to the fold and the result is an album that both sounds fresh but also well rooted in our history.

\r\nMetalzone.gr: What are your expectations of your upcoming tour?
\r\nRonny Thorsen: We are looking forward to it a lot! We have done some festivals and shows already with the new material and it works out great in a live environment. I think the package is solid, diverse and interesting, each band sounds different and have their own fan base but the are similarities in all bands enabling us to cross over to each others listeners. We have also done a few shows with Goth minister earlier and they are cool guys as well so I’m sure we’re goanna have a lot of fun!

\r\nMetalzone.gr: Tell us the stops in it.
\r\nRonny Thorsen: Well, first of all, GREECE! I really can’t wait to finally set foot on a Greek stage, it will be our first show in the country but I have been there earlier on vacations and I love the country. So finally it will happen. The tour will continue to London, then Belgium, Holland, Germany, Denmark and the final stop will be in Moscow, Russia, also a place where we haven’t played before and a country that I have wanted to visit for a long time!

\r\nMetalzone.gr: What show should we expect to see on stage?
\r\nRonny Thorsen: You can expect an energetic, powerful performance from a band in the best shape of our career! We will put together a lengthy set list comprising of both old and new material so hopefully everyone will get their favourite fix!

\r\nMetalzone.gr: Are you recording any of your shows?
\r\nRonny Thorsen: As for now there are no plans for that but I will not rule out the possibility completely.\r\n

\r\nMetalzone.gr: Are you already working on new material? If yes share some of the lyrical and musical ideas in it.
\r\nRonny Thorsen: We are and we have more or less half the material written for it. When we enter the studio remains to be seen as it depends on a few things with labels and so on. I don’t want to reveal too much at this early point but I guess a key word for the new material is BIGGER.

\r\nMetalzone.gr: Any unsatisfied dreams so far? Any regrets?
\r\nRonny Thorsen: I think being in a band you are never fully satisfied, you always want more and set new goals for yourself as you go along and I think that’s a healthy way to look at things and actually necessary to continue. You always need to have something that you haven’t accomplished. As for regrets, I don’t think that there is any point in looking to your past and say that you regret this or that because there is nothing you can do about it anyway. I wish that I had made certain other decisions over the years but I prefer to look at it as a lesson learned so that I don’t make the same mistakes again.

\r\nMetalzone.gr: Do you think that since 2007 you turned over a new leaf in the history of the band, what are the differences now and then?
\r\nRonny Thorsen: There are so many differences now compared to the old line-up that I don’t even know where to begin. To keep it short, it feels like being in a BAND again these days, as I mentioned there is so much energy to feed off and people and blood-thirsty and hungry to accomplish something. We have gotten a real adrenaline boost and have new-found enthusiasm. And last but not least, we share the work, and all the assignments that it takes being in this band, on all the band members. Everyone contributes with what they do best!
