MIDNIGHT DARKNESS - Holding The Night

MIDNIGHT DARKNESS - Holding The Night

\r\nOne of many things I like about HEAVY METAL is the satisfaction you get when you discover a new band you never heard of before and even more so when you really enjoy their music so much that you can rate their album as a "monument".\r\n

\r\n

\r\nThe introduction is about german band Midnight Darkness who came from Oberhausen and they first appeared with the single Running From |Future in 1984. A year later their first and only LP came out with the title Holding The Night. Holding The Night was realesed by Hot Blood Records and was re-released by Aurophon/Brainstorm. Eight tracks with forty minutes duration compose Midnight Darkness unique release and are enough to make Holding The Night a precious album in the record collections of those who have the luck to own it.\r\n

\r\n

\r\nThe album sets off at full throttle with Lost In Dreams, one of the best song of the record and with the first riffs it’s obvious that we’re dealing with a german band. Jorg Reuter’s vocals are pretty distinctive, not with high abilities, but the way he sings shows he really believes in what he’s doing. One other impressive treat of Holding The Night is the feelling that Midnight Darkness did a live recording with the passion overflowing from the melodies and their extraordinary playing. Probably this treat is the reason some imperfections the songs may have can’t be easily noticed.\r\n

\r\n

\r\nDetlef Poschmann and Michael Rοllke guitar parts are the bands strongest asset and even though Holding The Night doesn’t have the best possible production, heavy guitars make up for it filling up the compositions.\r\n

\r\n

\r\nMidnight Darkness line-up was\r\n

\r\n

\r\nDetlef Poschmann - Guitars
\r\nJοrg Reuter - Vocals
\r\nKlaus Petereit - Bass
\r\nRudy Pfeiffer - Drums
\r\nMichael Rοllke – Guitars
\r\n

\r\n

\r\nShortly after the Holding The Night release, Midnight Darkness disbanded. In 2004 Detlef Poschmann came back with a band, Past M.D.\r\n
