TAIPAN - Taipan

TAIPAN - Taipan

\r\nIt’s 1981 in Australia and TAIPAN’s omonymous EP is out. The impressive thing and the reason I chose to make a monument out of this particular album is that although TAIPAN dwell down under, on the other coast of the Atlantic ocean, they play classic NWOBHM!!!!\r\n

\r\n

\r\nI thing here lies the greateness of HEAVY METAL. No matter geography, back then there were musicians who shared the same feeling and they expressed it through music. In 1981 people didn’t have the means to know what music sounded like or how it would get produced on the other side of the globe. But still TAIPAN’s EP is indeed a NWOBHM album.\r\n

\r\n

\r\nTAIPAN is the first HEAVY METAL band from Australia. In this album we have four songs lasting about fifteen minutes and the only thing they won’t do is leave you indiferent. Breakout is the first song and also a pretty powerfull way for this EP to start. Reminding of classic NWOBHM groups, the sound and the structure of the composition get you suspicious you might have been wrong and what you’re listening to can’t be from anywhere else than Great Britain. The second song on the EP is called Lady and is another well-armed song in the same feeling breakout had. The element I picked out in TAIPAN’s compositions is the authenticity of their performance, an essential incredient for a HEAVY METAL band. Tired of you is the third track on the EP which carries even more NWOBHM characteristics, another compositon that blows your socks off. Cellar is the last song on the EP. It has a mid-tempo rythm but is as interesting and awsome as the first three tracks. The feeling you get after listening to TAIPAN’s EP is that even though it lasts about fifteen minutes you thing it lasted much longer...\r\n
